Design Philosophy
Akola is intentional in every step of their process, with each piece handcrafted by women in Jinja, Uganda using sustainable, local materials like upcycled cow horn, raffia from palm leaves, and sisal from the agave plant. Their designs draw inspiration from East Africa’s lush surroundings, blending global connectivity with layered textures, techniques, and details that are at once complex yet simple, light yet vibrant.
