Venice by Banniere
Original artwork by Victoria Tentler-Krylov
Victoria is an architect turned editorial and children's illustrator and author. She is inspired by fantasy and the possibilities that are found in urban landscapes, especially those cities that are near and dear to her, like Venice. Her favorite medium is watercolor and what better way to capture the elusive magic of Venice that is so intrinsically tied to water. The artist vividly remembers her experiences of stepping into a Venetian vaporetto and heading to San Marco from the Santa Lucia train station and grabbing a caffè. The rippling waves, the shimmering facades, the diffused light, the sounds of gently splashing water and the chaotic crowd - all contributed to an unforgettable, magical experience that she comes back to again and again in her art. Victoria finds Venice is the only place that gives her this powerful creative charge.

I decided to start Banniere after traveling the world and falling in love with the unique and varying styles and cultures in different towns and cities. I had a background working in Fashion for other companies such as Stubbs and Wootton and wanted to start something on my own that combined my love of travel, art and fashion. Through Banniere, I was able to work with these local artists and come up with designs that emanate these different cultures and turn them into wearable art: a silk scarf.
