One of the best ways to experience Dallas in the fall is neighborhood by neighborhood. Each has its own personality, favorite coffee shop, hidden gems, and places that make you want to slow down and stay awhile.

Highland Park Village

An icon for a reason. Spend an afternoon strolling beneath the Spanish-inspired architecture while browsing some of the world's most coveted luxury boutiques. Whether you're searching for a timeless wardrobe investment or simply window shopping, Highland Park Village is always worth a visit.

After a day of shopping, settle in for a cocktail at Monkey Bar, perched above Mi Cocina, and order the legendary Mambo Taxi, a Dallas tradition. Or, head upstairs to Fachini's rooftop above the Village Theatre for a glass of wine or an early evening martini. Both are favorite spots to unwind before dinner and soak in the charm of Highland Park Village.

Knox Street

Our favorite way to spend a crisp Saturday morning starts with a walk along the Katy Trail before grabbing coffee at Rose Café, Village Baking Co., or The Butcher Shop.

From there, spend the morning exploring Knox Street's thoughtfully curated shops, including:

Before heading home, make a stop at the RH Rooftop Restaurant for a leisurely lunch or an afternoon cocktail. Be sure to order the signature grilled artichokes, they're a HerStory favorite and linger beneath the sparkling chandeliers and olive trees overlooking one of the most beautiful rooftops in Dallas.

Inwood Village & Greenway Parks

One of Dallas' most charming neighborhoods, Inwood Village blends local favorites with beautiful tree-lined streets and a relaxed pace.

Start your morning with breakfast at PopUp Bagels, then grab a coffee from La La Land Kind Café before browsing the neighborhood's collection of independent boutiques. Fashion lovers won't want to miss To Be Continued… Luxury Resale (TBC), one of Dallas' premier luxury consignment boutiques, where the racks are filled with incredible designer finds from Versace and Chanel to Johanna Ortiz and Hermès. With authenticated luxury pieces arriving daily, no two shopping trips are ever the same.

Be sure to stop by Interabang Books, one of Dallas' favorite independent bookstores, and pick up your next great read or a beautiful coffee table book before settling in for lunch at Odelay Tex-Mex, a neighborhood favorite with one of the best patios in Dallas.

HerStory Tip: Order the muddled cucumber margarita with Tajín alongside the Chicken Caesar Wrap. Around the HerStory office, it's widely considered the best Chicken Caesar wrap in Dallas, the perfect lunch after a morning of shopping in Inwood Village.

Afterwards, take a leisurely stroll through the quiet, winding streets of nearby Greenway Parks, one of Dallas' most picturesque neighborhoods.

It's the kind of place that feels effortlessly elegant, wonderfully local, and quintessentially Dallas.

Lakewood & White Rock

Spend a Sunday morning exploring the charming Lakewood neighborhood before making your way to the Dallas Arboretum, where fall comes alive with thousands of pumpkins, vibrant mums, and some of the most breathtaking seasonal gardens in Texas.

Take your time wandering the grounds, soak in the sweeping views of White Rock Lake, and let the changing colors inspire your next tablescape or autumn gathering. It's one of our favorite places to slow down and celebrate the beauty of the season.

HerStory Tip: During the fall, the Arboretum hosts its beloved Cool Thursdays Concert Series. Pack a picnic blanket, bring your favorite snacks, and spend the evening listening to live music as the sun sets over White Rock Lake. It's one of the most magical ways to experience a Dallas autumn.

Lower Greenville

If you're looking for one neighborhood that perfectly captures Dallas after dark, make it Lower Greenville. Spend the afternoon browsing local boutiques before settling in for a leisurely evening along one of the city's most walkable streets, filled with neighborhood favorites, lively patios, and some of Dallas' best restaurants.

Start with a glass of wine at Leela's Wine Bar, where the cozy patio and welcoming atmosphere make it one of our favorite places to unwind before dinner. Then make your way to Sister Restaurant for Mediterranean-inspired Italian dishes, handmade pasta, and an atmosphere that feels equal parts vibrant and intimate.

Whether you're enjoying a girls' night out, date night, or lingering over a bottle of wine with friends, Lower Greenville is one of Dallas' best neighborhoods to experience after sunset.

Bishop Arts District

If you're looking to venture a little off the beaten path, spend an afternoon exploring the Bishop Arts District, one of Dallas' most creative and eclectic neighborhoods. Filled with independent boutiques, local makers, art galleries, and charming cafés, it's the perfect place to discover something unexpected.

Browse locally owned boutiques, vintage shops, artisan makers, and thoughtfully curated home stores before stopping into The Wild Detectives, a beloved bookstore, café, and wine bar that's become a gathering place for Dallas creatives.

There is no better way to experience Dallas in the fall than on an SMU football weekend. Start your day by strolling through the charming streets of Snider Plaza, grabbing a coffee, browsing the local boutiques, and soaking in one of the city's most beloved neighborhoods.

Before kickoff, join the excitement on The Boulevard, SMU's iconic game-day tradition where alumni, students, and families gather beneath the oak trees for tailgates, live music, and one of the best college football atmospheres in Texas.

After the game, make your way to Bar Sardine for what many locals consider the best burger in Dallas. Served on a soft potato bun with perfectly crisp fries, it's the kind of meal you'll find yourself craving long after football season ends. Pair it with a martini or a glass of wine, and you've experienced one of our favorite Dallas fall traditions.
