Mel, Dave, and the boys landed in India and set up home in a tiny town at the base of the Himalayas, called Rajpur. Mel began working with artisan groups and local women in Rajpur, many of whom had come out of abuse and trafficking. Her passion was to help people find their creativity, and to create jobs for people who otherwise wouldn't be able to find employment. 

And so JOYN was created, a place where people could find beauty in the art of handmade goods and where makers could come together and find work, creating something new, from scratch and by hand.
