Meet Cartolina Nantucket
WRITTEN BY IVY NIELSEN
Clothing is not just a piece of fabric, it is a work of art, wearable on your body. Clothing holds memories unique to you alone.
Margaret Anne Nolen founded Cartolina Nantucket in the spirit of travel. The name Cartolina (pronounced “kar·to·lì·na”) translates to “postcard” in Italian. The brand hopes to inspire its wearers to embrace each place they visit, just as Nolen’s mother taught her; to strive to be an active participant in creating your life’s memories with exploration. To Nolen in particular, this falls back on her family and her mother specifically, and how she lives on in the founder's life.
Cartolina Nantucket, hence the name, was founded in the seaside, East Coast town of Nantucket. Inspired by a love for traveling and exploring, Cartolina Nantucket shares the same love that HerStory does of seeing the world in a spontaneous fashion.
“We have an appreciation for the art of collecting the tangible and intangible, from vintage objects to lifelong memories.”

“We have an appreciation for the art of collecting the tangible and intangible, from vintage objects to lifelong memories.”
Cartolina Nantucket also finds inspiration through the old world, vintage fabrics, and film photography.
As you slip on a Cartolina dress, feel the fabric on your fingertips and reminisce about wearing it that one morning in Italy, strolling the streets to grab a latte. Cartolina Nantucket aims to help you feel this memory of travel, as soon as you put on a piece of their clothing.
“It’s the spirit of nostalgia and quality we aim to revive in our clothing.”
In addition to supporting women and the spirit of travel, Cartolina Nantucket donates a proceed of their profit to support the next generation of women in the areas of education and healthcare.
Each Cartolina piece is hand-sewn here in the USA at the brand’s Los Angeles studio. Clothing is hand-dyed by local, California artisans. The brand promotes sustainability and a dedication to helping the environment by only working with factories that adhere to state laws and regulations in sustainability and environmental care.
“Cartolina was created to make all women feel bright and beautiful from the inside out.”
SHOP THE STORY

Margaret Anne Nolen - Founder of Cartolina Nantucket
This womenswear brand is inspired by travel, life adventures, and making memories. My mother always taught me how important it is to enjoy a place and be an active participant in creating your life’s collection of memories. Wherever you go, whoever you meet.
This, to me, means family, and my mother lives on in these memories, thanks to the beautiful designs of Zoë Rosenberg.
I hope you find a piece or two that makes you feel special. Something to wear on an adventure far away or right nearby. Something you can wear for a dinner with friends you miss or a walk along the beach.
Cartolina is Italian for “postcard,” so wherever the clothes take you, I’m wishing you special memories ahead. Create your own postcards in the memory you wear!
