Meet Folklore Las Niñas
WRITTEN BY ANNIKA TROBMAN
Dress your little ones in hand-woven prints and provide clean drinking water to communities in Guatemala.
Established in 2015 by a mom of two with a desire to stay connected to their Latin American roots, Folklore Las Niñas offers unique designs with upscale artisanal and modern textiles from Guatemala and Bolivia. Through their one of a kind fashion movement and their partnership with Ecofiltro, a non-profit providing clean drinking water to low income families in rural Guatemala, the brand encourages self-expression, multiculturalism and eco-consciousness in the next generation of girls.

Meet the Founder
Gisa Heinz
Gisa Marsicovetere Heinz was born and raised in the bustling capital city of Guatemala. When she moved to the United States and started her own family, she craved a way to stay connected to her roots. She wanted to bring the beauty of Guatemala to the doorsteps of moms everywhere, and give back to rural communities in need. Inspired by the rich traditions of Guatemalan textiles and her own two children, Gisa co-founded Folklore Las Niñas.
Folklore Las Niñas creates timeless, hand-woven clothes for babies, girls and moms. It all starts at the footloom in the Guatemalan countryside. With every thread, an artisan weaves ancient wisdom and craftsmanship into a beautiful, premium textile. In this way, Folklore Las Niñas reduces carbon emissions and water consumption by creating fabrics on the footloom without electricity. It takes weeks for this process to complete, but it is in this time-honored practice that quality goods are made.
Each dress, shirt, or throw is designed by Gisa herself and crafted by Guatemala seamstresses from bolts of woven fabric. Because of Folklore Las Niñas’ exceptional quality, your little one can roll around and play all day without worry of wear down. Each beautiful piece you purchase travels all the way from Guatemala to your doorstep.
Folklore Las Niñas is more than a clothing company. They are a family of makers who believe in Guatemala’s past and future. With every purchase, Folklore Las Niñas provides clean drinking water to communities by partnering with EcoFiltro. So while you dance with your little ones in your folklore favorites, rural Guatemalans celebrate the gift of clean water.
We are proud to support Gisa’s story and brand and we hope you enjoy your quality pieces.
